Enchanting and exciting, Malaysian Borneo is a montage of mountain ranges, misted rivers, and mystical rainforests, with birdlife, bat colonies, pygmy elephants, sun bears, and orangutans

Overview

Exploring the equatorial island of Borneo, and focused on its fabulous flora and fauna, this tour takes you to some of the largest, longest, and wildest caves in the world; introduces you to tribal traditions in ‘living museum’ villages; includes wildlife spotting from river boats; watches the mesmerising exodus of millions of bats from their cavern’s mouth; and visits the sanctuaries nurturing endearing Sun Bears, and orangutans, the ‘men of the forest’, sharing 97% of their DNA with humans; rescued from starvation or cruel captivity, their habitats destroyed by deforestation for palm oil production. Begin in the Sarawak city of Kuching, with riverfront parks and dragon-clad temples. Discover Sabah with untamed topography of Sandakan, home to herds of pygmy elephants and many monkey species. Kuala Lumpur marks journey’s end with Malay mosques, Chinese temples, and soaring towers.
